Indian pros got the best hike in Asia

India recorded the highest jump in average salaries in 2005, according to the latest Asia Pacific salary survey by HR consulting firm Hewitt.

The average hike in salaries was pegged at 13.9%— the highest among the countries covered by the survey— led by an even higher average salary increases in the IT enable sector(17.9%).

The biggest hikes were reported for professionals, supervisor and technical level personnel(15.7%) and the group is expected to be at about the same level next year.

This is in line with the fact that this employee group also reported the highest attrition rate in the country this year, pegged at 19.5%.

The average salary hikes in India was much higher compared to some of other fast growing markets in the region. India was followed by countries like Philippines(8.2%), China(8.1%) and Thailand(6.3%).
