 Nanotechnology centre at Madras varsity

A Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology will be set up in the Madras University, the Tamil Nadu government has announced. Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa ordered the establishment of the centre, taking into consideration the advancement in educational and research institutions in the field worldwide. The centre would offer courses and training in nanoscience and nanotechnology, including a two-year post-graduation, among other courses, conduct seminars, take up research and extend guidance to industrial units and research centres.

The government would allocate Rs. 5 crore for the setting up of the centre, it said, adding that the centre was a commemorative gift to the university on completion of 150 years of its existence.
