Chinese TV ad revenue hits $5 billion
China's TV stations collected 39.7 billion Chinese yuan ($5 billion; euro3.9 billion) in advertising fees in 2005, up 13 , or more than 4.6 billion yuan ($574 million; euro454 million) from 2004, the official Xinhua News Agency said on May 2.
Cosmetics, toiletries, food and pharmaceuticals were the most advertised goods on television, Xinhua reported, citing a report issued by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
It quoted the report as saying the Chinese government's China Central Television received nearly 5.9 billion yuan ($736 million; euro583 million) for prime-time advertising slots in 2006.
