Visual Radio to rock India in three months

Visual Radio, an initiative by HP and Nokia is going to change the way you listen to radio.

This involves using two things in synchronization, the FM radio transmission and an interactive video channel on a two-way wireless Internet connection to your device.

The radio station uses the Visual Radio Tool software to create the content to be transmitted over the data channel.

The kind of opportunities that it opens for the mobile operators is immense. This would give them a non obstructive means of pushing value added content to the user, while the radio channels can have increased interactivity with their users.

For instance the radio channels can use the same service to hold polls on their network. The radio jockey can simply tell you to click on the response on your visual radio screen and send it back.

Mobile operators can do the same thing. They can give a single click download to the song, movie wallpapers and ringtones while the song is being played on the radio.

For the consumer, you would be able to see the artist information etc. on the screen while the song is being played.

To start with, this would be available on most of the latest Nokia models (N-series, 3230, 3250, 7710, 6230i, 6270, 6280, 7370) and all the new upcoming Nokia models.

According to Dilip Phadke, who is handling this initiative, the service is set for launch in the coming three months in India and they already have tie-ups with the No.1 radio channel in Delhi and Mumbai, while the deal with the operators is being worked out.
