India‘s biggest software company, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., on January 12 posted a 5.6 percent increase in third-quarter net profit, boosted by outsourcing orders from manufacturing and telecommunication clients.

TCS is India‘s largest software company by revenue.

"TCS has emerged as a full-services player in the industry and laid a strong foundation for future growth," said the company‘s chief executive, S. Ramadorai. "We are already winning deals that validate our strategy and will help us accelerate growth."

The other wins included providing information and technology services to an undisclosed American consumer firm and a retail chain.

TCS was founded in 1968 and is part of India‘s industrial conglomerate the Tata Group. Tata Consultancy pioneered the concept of outsourcing software development jobs to India.
