ITC's women-only hotel rooms a hit

With the rise in women business travellers, a major hotel chain has come up with the concept of Eva rooms, exclusively designed to suit their needs.

ITC hotels introduced exclusive rooms for women corporate travellers a year ago to provide them cocooned comfort, privacy and protection in major metros across India.

The concept got a good response, prompting hotels to devote entire floors to women. The fact that Eva rooms are sold out and doing brisk business indicates the rising number of women travellers.

Eva suites at ITC hotels cost a little over Rs.18,000 with butler services and women attendants.

Bindu Panicker, marketing and communication manager at ITC's Grand Maratha, told the agency: "We looked beyond trends to include an exclusive women's domain in hospitality. With swelling numbers of women corporates, we decided to have rooms that are suited to their needs."

Another official of ITC Grand Central Mumbai said: "Although a room is androgynous, we differentiate between a feminine and a masculine room.

"We carefully monitored worldwide trends and needs in the Indian market before designing our Eva rooms," he said.

Sonia Bakshi of ITC said: "The idea is to make Eva rooms available to a purely sophisticated audience."
