Malaysian firm to launch nutritional products in India

LeRoy International Ltd, the $25-million Malaysian healthcare firm, is set to foray into India with three nutritional products this summer, a top company official said in Bangalore on March 29.

The company has applied to the Indian government for regulatory clearances to market its dietary supplements - Flex, Bio Chlorella and Viki Prune - which are aimed at curing ailments arising from stress, long working hours and changing lifestyle.

“A survey conducted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) two years ago has revealed about 68 percent of the Indian population suffer from bones and joint problems,” LeRoy CEO Edward Khoo told reporters at a preview of the products.

The firm plans to invest $1 million to $1.5 million upfront in its Indian subsidiary for setting up a marketing network and undertaking a promotional campaign in the first year of operations.

As a blood cleanser and detoxifier, Bio Chlorella activates and cleanses blood, besides strengthening the immune system and neutralising acidity in the body.

Viki Prune, a prune extract, tackles health problems arising from constipation, irregular menstruation, anaemia and colon surgery.

The company claimed extensive clinical trials had proved its products do not have any side effects as they are made from medicinal plants and act as dietary supplements.
