France welcomes six Indian fashion gurus

Indian fashion is making waves across the world. Proof of this is an invitation received by six renowned Indian fashion designers to participate in the prestigious international fashion and photography contest that starts April 28-30, 2006.

Based on their success at (the fashion week), Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi, Manish Arora, Meera Muzaffar Ali, Rohit Bal and Rajesh Pratap Singh will represent the Indian fashion industry at the Festival International des Arts de la Mode et de la Photographie at the Villa Noailles, it was announced Monday.

It was tough job for French fashion giant, Didier Grumbach, who leads the French Fashion Design Council, and Maria Luisa, owner of chain of Paris outlets, to select a few names of the talented group of Indian designers.

In a statement, FDCI explained that the event was to display and promote Indian fashion that is rapidly becoming a vogue around the world.

For the event finale, ‘India Evening’ has been organized where the creations of the six designers will be presented through audio-visual program.

Almost 800 French and international invitees, including professionals, buyers, designers and the media are expected to attend ‘India Evening.’
