Amity United puts up a brave fight

The nine-month old Amity United Football Club (AUFC) put up a brave fight against the National Indian Football Team XI in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on February 13, 2006, in a run-up match to the forthcoming Asia Cup Game taking place against Japan later this month and against Yemen in March. Though the National Team sans Baichung Bhutia won 1-0, AUFC stood their ground and came tantalizingly close to scoring twice.

The game went scoreless until the 60 minutes as the Amity United’s defence held under the able leadership of their goalie Rampal. The game seemed headed for a draw when newcomer Kuttimani of HAL scored in the 60 th minute.

AUFC had been invited to play this match with the Indian Football XI. AUFC, Founded by Mr. Aseem Chauhan, has shown promise and tremendous potential and has won more than 15 prestigious tournaments in several states including the Haryana Football League in January, 2006.

Founder President of the AMITY Group, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, National Coach, Mr. Syed Nayeemuddin, AUFC Chief Coach, Mr. Parashar and AUFC’s Coach Mr. Hans Raj along with hundreds of other Amitians witnessed the match played under floodlights.
