NEW DELHI: - AmityCARE, the counselling unit of Amity Universe, launched its Counsellors’ Club during its first Counsellors’ Meet held here with the theme “To Children I Give My Heart.”

AmityCARE Counsellor Forum (ACCF) has been initiated to support school counsellors’ efforts to help students focus on academic, personal, social and career development so that they would succeed in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Director General-Home Guards and Director-Civil Defence said the main role of the counsellors is to invoke “why” in students. She elaborated that once a counsellor or a parent answers the “why,” the “how” automatically comes in.

The occasion also witnessed the launch of AmityCARE’s official website (www.amitycare.net) and its quarterly newsletter Let’s Talk.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Founder President of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation, the umbrella body of all Amity institutions, said that AmityCARE is an initiative to help the young minds make appropriate career choices based on their aptitude and interest.

The meet included paper presentations on the topics “Humor and EQ,” “Adolescent lifestyle and smoking” and “Emotional maturity in school goers.” The presentations were reviewed by Dr. Waheeda Khan from Jamia Millia Islamia University, Dr. Renu Kishore from Delhi University and Professor Abha Singh from Amity University. The paper presentations were followed by an Interactive Workshop on “Spiritual Intelligence and Emotional Freedom Technique,” which was presided over by Dr. Bhavna Barmi, Senior Clinical Physhologist from Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre. Apart from these, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Sex Education in Schools.”

During the occasion, Usha Albuquerque, well-known career counsellor, also shared the best practices in career counselling.

This meet was a huge success with the presence of principals and counsellors from over 100 schools of Delhi, both private and government, teachers, psychologists and senior officials from the government.

The second Counsellors Meet is scheduled to be held on the 20 th of July.
