The Amity Philosophy  

The philosophy of the school proclaims itself in the belief "Vidya Dadati Vinayam". The emblem is a symbol of the indomitable power and humility that knowledge imparts. Amenities

Laboratories

Students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology and Computer Science, practical and research. As many as 48 students can perform a wide range of experiments simultaneously while the teachers and lab-assistants at hand provide constant supervision and guidance for optimum results. Projects can be developed of a very superior standard thereby encouraging investigative analysis and reasoning.  

Library

Well-stocked and air-conditioned libraries or Knowledge Resource Centres, separate for Junior and Senior Secondary levels. The Senior Secondary Level library is a member of the British Council Library (BCL) .

Sports

At AIS, we believe that learning and personal development are enhanced by a healthy lifestyle. In adherence to this belief, the school encourages participation in an active physical education and sports programme. School teams for various sports are trained after school for Inter School, Zonal, National and International competitions .

Special sports introduced at AIS are:

  • Mini Tennis to give an orientation to young children. Training camps are held to identify talented students who stand the chance to gain admission to DLTA at a subsidized rate.
  • Horse Riding for the primary class students under the guidance of trained coaches.
  • Archery introduced most recently has evinced a splendid response from students.
  • Aerobics and Gymnastics to make the children swift and agile. Students have won laurels in the sport nationally and internationally.
  • Karate to teach the fine art of self-defence and self-discipline under instructors trained in India and abroad.
  • Climbing Wall under expert guidance has been introduced at the school for complete physical exercise.
  • Provisions are made for other sports as well including Basketball, Chess, Roller Skating, Cricket, Swimming, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Football and Hockey among others.

Canteen

A Canteen is functioning on the school campus where light snacks, Ice cream, hot and cold beverages are available. Refreshments are nutritious and wholesome and prepared in hygienic conditions. Students can visit the tuck shop during the recess and partake of the snacks in the pleasant foyer alongside the canteen. Separate recess timings for the Senior and Junior wing helps to curb overcrowding.

IT

Amity International Schools have always been in the forefront in the use of Information technology. We have a good collection of Software and are equipped with the latest hardware. The school has a fully automated Intranet which takes care of all our academic and administrative functions.

We have computer facilities are available on all floors at nodal points such as the Study Centre, Staff Rooms, Science Laboratories and Libraries. We also have advanced Audio-Visual room equipped with the latest presentation tools and teaching aids

Affiliations

All Amity Institutions are affiliated to CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). CBSE has been operating for the last 65 years and has an All-India status with its jurisdiction spanning the entire country and extending beyond the national boundaries. Playing a lead role in raising the standard of secondary education, it includes self-financing institutions along with 62 schools affiliated in countries like U.A.E, Bahrain, Russia and a host of other countries.

Teaching Methodology

At AIS, we provide education with an objective to empower students to make decisions, to find creative solutions and plan effective action strategies. The curriculum is structured in a manner that keeps your child in touch with the ever-changing world trends, right from the junior years to the senior level.

We constantly revamp, reinvent and evaluate the classroom and teaching strategy to create the most appropriate education that your child deserves. The study programme for all learning levels is unique because it is a cross-fertilization of the finest teaching methodologies.

The Pre-Primary Level (Nursery and Kindergarten)

  • Learning is made interesting, fun and activity oriented at this level.
  • Participation of the students is encouraged through such activities as drawing and coloring, writing, group games, clay modelling, puzzles, flash cards and conversations.
  • Poems and stories are dramatized using expressive actions.
  • Focus is on developing communication skills and on reinforcing an innate sense of discovery in everything that is taught.
  • Children learn to comprehend through a multi sensory approach as concepts in Number Work, English and E.V.S. are made clear with the use of multimedia.
  • Nature walks and regular educational tours to the Zoos, Railway Museums and Game Parks develop a sense of openness towards the world.

 Primary Level (Class I to Class V)

  • A thematic approach is designed to stimulate the children through various inter-active sessions and activities.
  • An extensive use of technology aids to supplement classroom teaching.
  • Project works in class calls for mass participation. An equal emphasis is laid on developing a strong sense of individuality.
  • Field trips and excursions make learning fun.
  • Use of the newspaper articles, quizzes, crosswords and other learning tools enhance general awareness. 

Middle Level (Class VI to Class VIII)

  • The emphasis is on acquiring in-depth conceptual knowledge.
  • The curriculum is research oriented and based on teamwork vis-à-vis discussions, group project work, discovery and exploration.
  • Personality development, value education and coping with peer pressure are stressed upon at this stage.
  • Students work in groups and make power point presentations on subject related topics. Parents are also invited for such presentations.

Senior Secondary Level (Class IX to Class XII)

  • Science and Commerce are among the main academic streams offered at AIS.
  • Various combinations of subjects are offered so that students can pursue their desired courses of study later in life.
  • An equal stress is laid on preparing students for the prescribed CBSE syllabus and on preparing the students for the various competitive entrance examinations.
  • Result oriented training is imparted by experienced professionals who target for total development and desired success.
  • Extra coaching classes take place after school hours at the Amity Institute for Competitive Examinations (AICE), established in the campus.
  • The concept of Synchro-Study has been introduced to reduce stress levels of students. A synchronized study pattern is maintained between the course content of the board examinations and that of the competitive entrance examinations.
  • Students have complete access to the various laboratories and library resources, specially designed for the study and research requirements of the senior level students. 

Faculty  

The Schools have an extremely committed and qualified faculty that constantly strives to make learning a pleasurable experience for children and works to realize the potential of each child. The teachers constantly upgrade their professional skills through a multitude of In-house training programmes along with workshops conducted by other schools and experts. Workshops and orientations on a field as diverse as life's skills, subject enhancement to Effective Stress Management go a long way in equipping them to strike an admirable balance between home and the workplace and achieve success in both spheres.

Student to Teacher Ratio  

We have a faculty ratio of 1 teacher for 17 students. Thus an ideal and effective teacher student ratio is maintained in the classrooms allowing for personalized attention to each child. The small class strengths enable effective teaching and evaluation on the part of the teacher while the students' forge strong ties with each other and their tutors. Maximum participation in a wide range of activities is also possible for each child in this scheme of things.

Yoga  

Yoga is taught to students of the Primary wing comprising classes I-V. An age-old form of fitness whose efficacy has come to the forefront globally, the youngsters develop flexibility, balance, poise and concentration. Regular asana prove beneficial for both mind and body and leave the youngsters energized and ready for academic pursuits. 

Physical Education  

Physical education is highlighted at all levels for no education is complete without according due importance to sports. It is even offered as a subject under the CBSE course curriculum for std. XI and XII. Values such as self-control, discipline, courage and perseverance are instilled among the children through a wide range of games and sports programmes based on their needs and interests. Competitive sports, which are an integral part of the school curriculum, not only motivate the children but also help in developing sportsmanship, tolerance and teamwork.

Guidance & Counseling Services  

The Career Guidance and Counseling Centre at AIS creates awareness among students, of the varied career options available to them.

  • The professional counselor is available during the school working hours to assist students and teachers alike
  • Students are provided with extensive information on the various courses available to them after schooling, in India and abroad.
  • Eminent dignitaries and guest speakers are invited to share their professional views on the pros and cons of various vocations
  • The Guidance and Counseling cell also assists students in learning difficulties, behavioral development and adjustment problems.

A practical assistance is provided by counselors to bridge the gap that exists in the protected school life and the world outside

Results

  • The board results for classes Xth and XIIth have been outstanding in the past years. An average score of 85% and above, consistently in the previous board examinations has placed AIS among the top schools in the country.
