Respected Sir/Madam
I am a third year student of electronics and communication engineering and want to do my M.S. in U.S.A in the marketing field. I want to know if the field has a good career scope. I also want information regarding the universities offering courses in marketing in the U.S.A. Please note that I have only 70% aggregate in my 5 semesters. Can you guide me how to proceed from here?
Arun Kumar
Counselor: I appreciate your concern and pro active approach towards your career. Let me briefly explain to you the process of admission in any US university:
Admission to a Graduate course (A Post Graduate degree of India is called a graduation in USA) in USA can take place after 16 years of education. Since you are doing your engineering you already fulfill this criterion unlike a normal graduate, who has 15 years of education. High achievers at the undergraduate level who wish to continue their graduate study in the US may begin to apply during their final year of under-graduation. Most schools require high scholastic performance and standardized test score – GRE scores are required for those applying for any subject related to Humanities, Commerce or Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Architecture courses etc., or any non-management course and GMAT for management courses. All graduate schools require your TOEFL scores and proof of adequate financial support.
All US universities need evidence of satisfactory completion of college or university. Your application must include complete set of transcripts of secondary school and college. Generally an undergraduate degree with a ‘B’ average and score is acceptable, so make sure that you maintain it.
Application (for Graduation) must carry your Statement of Purpose (SOP) which tells the admission office about your academic experience and goals. If the institution request letters of recommendation, ask two or three people to write letters on your behalf (the college will specify the number of letters). These should be people who hold respected positions and who know you and your academic work well.
Marketing is an integral part of any business organization and is a growing field. No organization can run without generating business, therefore it has always been in demand. Organizations, nowadays, are looking for people with specialized qualification in business management, in addition to their technical skills. Therefore more and more engineers are now going for further specialization in field of management.
Generally students study the same subjects for master’s degree which they have majored in at the Bachelors level. However, in the cases like yours where one wishes to pursue studies in different subjects, they may be asked to complete undergraduate coursework in the US in that subject without earning any credits to make up for the academic deficiencies.
Wishing you all the best

Respected Sir/Madam
I am a student of Integrated LLB course (duration 5 years) in IME Law College, Sahibabad, which is affiliated to CCS University, Meerut. I want to do specialization in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Can you suggest some institutions from where I can pursue a course in IPR. What are the career prospects open to me after completion of the course?
Swati Rathore
Counsellor: With International Market opening up & Indian economy being more liberalized, it is imperative to understand the World Trade Laws & IPR issues. A specialization in IPR with LLB, will definitely give you an edge. Specialization in IPR is generally offered as a Diploma course by most of the Institutions. The pre requisite for which is LLB, but some of the Institutes like Amity Law School does offer a specialized course in IPR that can be done along with LLB & the classes are held over the weekends.
However, if time is not a constraint, it is advisable to join LLM (2yrs.) that exposes you to other areas of specialization, as well as research.
I am forwarding you some links for institutes offering courses in IPR :

I hope this will give you some direction.
