Frankfurt Book Fair: India will be 'guest of honour'

New Delhi: India will be the "Guest of Honour Country" at the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair this year. It should be noted that India is the first country to be accorded the honour twice.

NBT Chairman Bipan Chandra said to media that Briefing media it as significant news for the Indian publishing industry. He said that Indian books would flood the German market between March and October, creating awareness about the kind of works being done in India as of now. Apart from visits by publishers, Indian authors too will be visiting Germany to interact with readers and promote their books. The Indian pavilion at the Frankfurt Book Fair will showcase contemporary Indian writing, culture and publishing. The fair will focus on today`s India through a series of events and activities during the line up to the big event in October. The first time India was "Guest of Honour Country" at the Frankfurt Book Fair was back in 1986.
