Centre approves 283 cr for North-East educational institutions
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved Rs 283.18 crore for creation and maintenance of necessary infrastructure facilities in educational establishments in the north-eastern region.
The fund is for upgradation of various educational establishments and introduction of value education programmes, official sources said.
The various educational establishments include College of Agriculture (Imphal), Manipur College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (Aizawl), Mizoram College of Fisheries (Tripura) College of Horticulture and Forestry (Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh) and Central Agricultural University headquarters (Imphal).
Three new colleges-College of Home Science, Tura (Meghalaya), College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Sikkim(HP) and College of Post Graduate Studies, Barapani (Meghalaya) would also be established with the allotted fund.
Apart from this, the Centre would also give extra financial support for any new proposal. It has instructed the respective NE states to submit the report for the same, official sources added.
